About Us
The Friendship Force of Southern CT is an affiliate of Friendship Force International. Our main purpose is to participate in international cultural homestay exchanges with other FFI clubs throughout the world, thereby, promoting world peace through personal friendships.

Our Mission

The mission of Friendship Force International is to create an environment where individual friendships can be established across the international barriers that separate people.

History

Friendship Force International, a nonprofit international cultural exchange organization headquartered in Atlanta,  was founded in 1977 by its first president, Wayne Smith, and was announced on March 1, 1977, by President Jimmy Carter at a White House gathering of state governors. Susan Smith, daughter of co-founder and former president Wayne Smith, now serves as President of the organization. It is active in more than 60 countries, promoting friendship and goodwill through an extensive program of home-stay exchanges.
The Friendship Force of Southern CT is an active club with a diversified membership of 70 (ages 45-80). We meet approximately every other month in Branford, CT and also have a holiday luncheon, a summer picnic and several social events throughout the year. Our members come from throughout the New Haven and shoreline areas. We usually host one group of foreign visitors and arrange one trip abroad a year. In 2002, our group visited Miyagi and Tokyo, Japan and we hosted guests from throughout  Russia.

Membership is open to anyone who shares in the organization's goals and principles. Southern CT chapter dues are $22 for single members or $27 for a family.
